The Role: Relationship Manager (S&P Global Market Intelligence)

The Team:

S&P Global Market Intelligence, a subsidiary of S&P Global, is currently searching for a Relationship Manager (RM) to join the Commercial team in Tokyo, Japan.

The Commercial team is made up of experienced finance professionals including those with backgrounds in commercial lending, investment banking, investment management and data solution sales. This client facing role will manage a book of business of our largest financial institutions and, will work closely with the Account Director, sales representatives, relationship managers, client support team and product team to support and grow S&P Global Market Intelligence’s business.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Managing a book of business, expanding the annual subscription in an effort to promote increased usage, growth in the existing user base as well as upsell of additional services
  • Visiting potential and existing clients to present new functionality and training existing users individually or in a group setting
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at all levels, and become their partner

– i.e. end-users, business heads, senior management, etc

  • Proactively assess and address user needs in order to drive the best possible client experience
  • Gathering competitive intelligence to uncover potential changes in clients’ business needs; turning client feedback into actionable strategies to drive new business and address competitive risks
  • Analyzing client usage trends to identify growth and risk areas
  • Facilitating product related questions from clients by seeking solutions across appropriate internal groups
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions aimed at incorporating personal and client feedback into product designs for future releases
  • Help users create and maintain detailed financial models by working closely with the users and our internal modeling team

Core Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in the financial industry in a client facing or analytical role (commercial lending, investment banking, or investment management) or information services industry (same industry as S&P Global Market Intelligence) is preferred
  • Strong ability to communicate with clients in a clear manner with strong presentation skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; demonstrates drive, initiative, energy and sense of urgency
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment as well as independently
  • Excellent problem solving skills and, analytical capabilities (eg. financial modeling) or Corporate Finance knowledge a plus
  • Personal Qualities: Strong personal integrity, confident and positive manner, problem solver, adaptable, honest, trustworthy, ambitious & resilient
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong demonstration of teamwork, collaboration and camaraderie working with colleagues and internal senior stakeholders across different departments/divisions globally
  • Fluent in business level Japanese and English (verbal and written)
  • CFA, CMA qualifications or MBA is a plus
  • Desire and flexibility to learn and grow in an ever-changing environment.
