The position requires that the candidate work in a variety of capacities due to the entrepreneurial and opportunistic nature of the firm. The primary role will be focused on providing analytical, quantitative and operational support for Related Urban Development Group, the affordable and workforce housing arm of Related Group.
Essential functions:
- Work closely with the development team to oversee all facets of the predevelopment process including but not limited to conducting feasibility studies, submitting funding applications, procuring and negotiating consultant proposals, and working closely with the finance and construction teams to reach financial closing. Specific tasks will include:
- Preparing and updating financial models
- Supporting property due diligence by soliciting, bidding, managing and carefully reviewing third-party reports.
- Contributing significantly to delivering entitlements such as land use acceptance, zoning, plan approval, easements, and permits.
- Understand the financial structure of each development and work collaboratively with internal and external team members to optimize unit and income mix, site planning and building design.
- Proactively manage project progress by tracking, organizing and completing annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly milestones using software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and/or Smartsheet.
- Visiting project sites monthly or as otherwise required by project needs and the schedule is maintained.
- Work closely with development team to oversee leasing activities by coordinating with marketing and property management teams.
Education and Experience Requirement(s):
- 2 to 3 years of real estate development experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in related fields such as acquisitions, commercial brokerage, construction management, planning or finance is acceptable.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Real Estate Development, Construction, Engineering, Architecture or related field(s)
Knowledge/Skills Requirement(s):
- Financial modeling and underwriting skills in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and deadlines
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, balancing competing priorities and multiple project assignments.
