IT Network Engineer - Full Time
Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Position is NOT full remote. Hybrid only after introduction period, must reside in CA.
Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Informatics and Technology, the Network Engineer will work as a member of the team responsible for the implementation, maintenance and administration of the Hospital's network and server infrastructure. The Network Engineer will manage, troubleshoot, and maintain the Hospital's network equipment, wireless technology, Storage Area Network (SAN), virtual and physical servers, enterprise backup, Internet and remote connectivity, and supported hardware/software.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

A strong background in network or systems administration in a healthcare environment is essential.
Required experience in multiple of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server (2008-2012r2); Microsoft Active Directory; Microsoft Exchange; PowerShell; Microsoft SQL Server; VMWare vSphere; Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure; Storage Area Networks (SAN).
Desired experience includes: previous work in a hospital/healthcare organization or similarly structured environment; fault tolerant and high availability system design and administration; security related administration (public key infrastructure, encryption, identity management, etc.); Virtual Desktop Infrastructure; Mobile device management
Five (5) years of networking or systems experience in an enterprise setting is preferred.
This position requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work through potentially disastrous situations while maintaining a positive attitude. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Exhibits strong skills in documenting processes, procedures, and tools descriptions.
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate and work with multiple teams.
Drives improvement in processes, manageability, availability and cost efficiency with a strong ability to anticipate future demands, growth and competitive trends.
Reviews continuously and recommends infrastructure solutions that improve scalability, availability, performance in a cost efficient manner in association with Information Technology (IT).
Designs and implements systems to monitor, report, log and audit activity throughout the environment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Computer Science, Management Information Technology, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.
Current Cisco CCNA, VMWare VCP, or similar certification as approved by the Department Director is required."
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function
1 * Coordinates, develops, and executes program for continual measurement of Sierra View's Information Systems, and communication networks' performance and effectiveness.
a. Daily operation of the network ensuring that all systems are operating at proper levels.
b. Coordinates and carries out periodic inspections of servers and peripheral devices.
c. Recommends corrective action, as needed, to ensure performance meets Sierra View's requirements for continuity of service, system response time, security, reporting, and backup and recovery.
2 * Responsible for implementation, configuration, and daily operations of the Storage Area Network (SAN) including all related hardware and software.
3 * Responsible for setting up and monitoring backup programs for entire network. Responsible for the design, testing, implementation and verification of all back-up systems.
4 * Establishes, coordinates, recommends and maintains hardware standards and procedures to support all Information Technology and communications networks of SVMC.
5 * Coordinates, develops and recommends the design of functionally distributed Information Technology and LAN/WAN communications networks to meet the needs of SVMC and its affiliated entities.
6 * Reviews designs of new hardware and software systems required for operation of network. Assists in system and software architecture and design to ensure assets are secure at all times.
7 * Designs and configures gateways and VPN tunnels for system to system communication.
8 * Monitors internal control systems to ensure appropriate access levels are maintained.
9 * Responsible for ensuring the security of the network by utilizing a firewall and other internet security tools. Updates software security patches as necessary and/or directed by Senior Network Engineer.
10 * Performs risk assessments at the direction of the Senior Network Engineer. Assists in intrusion detection and response.
