Job Description
This is a part time, 40 hours in a 2 week pay period position. M-F no weekends
Under general supervision, develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates the hospital-wide Infection Control and Employee Health Programs.
Qualifications
- To qualify for the position, the candidate must have graduated from an accredited school of Nursing, Microbiology or Public Health.
- Bachelor’s preferred
- Three to five years hospital or medical office in infection control experience required.
- Previous experience program planning and coordination preferred.
- CIC certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Licensed as a RN in the state of Maryland preferred
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of asepsis, pathology-paraphysiology and epidemiology required.
- Knowledge of medical and psychosocial needs of neonates, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics required.
- Knowledge of hospital employee health programs required
- Demonstrated ability to develop guidelines for program implementation
- Ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of patients and confidentiality of health system and departmental documents required
- Knowledge of hospital Infection Control practices required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with patients, physicians, health system officials, other health system personnel and the general public is essential.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic statistical calculations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to identify problems, develop course of action and follow through to resolution. Ability to think critically and analyze risks.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Licensed as a RN in the state of Maryland preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will work in a clean, well-lighted environment. Requires sitting approximately 60-70% of the time; requires reaching/pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs., approximately 15% of the time. Potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials requiring observance of Universal Precautions, Respiratory and AFB Isolation and safe handling practices.
