The Technical Product Owner (TPO) role works closely with various senior business stakeholders to provide a single point of accountability across the technology lifecycle of Plan, Build and Run for an assigned set of business capabilities and products, as well as their underlying technology components. Relationships with business and external key stakeholders are fundamental to coordinating activity across multiple requirements, critical dependencies, technology imperatives, and functional outcomes.
The TPO will play an essential role in developing and driving the roadmaps that will underpin the business strategy. The TPO will be pivotal in the customer product led operating model accountable for the technology products which comprises of numerous technology applications and management of suppliers. The TPO will lead and manage the planning processes, technology roadmap, prioritisation, project and program delivery, continuous improvement and operational support needs across business stakeholder groups, ultimately to lead a team to effectively partner with relative business areas.
In Agile environments, the Technical Product Owner is accountable, through their squad, for the delivery of new features, enhancements, initiatives, continuous improvement and accepting completed work as ‘done’ with validation from the Product Owner and end-users. They guide and mentor cross-functional squads and vendors to ensure features are delivered to commitments, and the products meet their service levels and are secure and resilient by design.
You’ll have:
- Strong experience in operational service management
- 5+ years’ experience in an Agile environment (or equivalent work experience)
- Proven ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to solve, or lead the
- solving of strategic problems of high complexity on a large scale
- Expert stakeholder management skills across both business and technical functions
- Strong communications skills both verbal and written
- Able to work cross-functionally and align business unit processes to enterprise
- business processes
- Strong commercial and business acumen with experience in driving commercial
- outcomes
- Strong people leadership skills and experience
- Proficient in multiple Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, design thinking,
- HCD and other frameworks
- Experience designing and facilitating fit for purpose workshops that deliver defined
- outcomes
