SUMMARY

The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing tax depreciation schedules, calculating gain/loss on asset disposals, managing 704(c) schedules, and recording 1031 exchange transactions, along with other tax compliance duties as needed. This role will also coordinate the preparation of workpapers and documentation to support tax return filings. The Tax Accountant will collaborate with third-party service providers and operators to communicate tax matters related to fixed assets and gain/loss.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the fixed asset listing within the system of record.
  • Prepare depreciation reports for both domestic and international entities.
  • Prepare projected gain/loss reports to support REIT compliance.
  • Prepare separate entity gain/loss reports for tax compliance purposes for domestic and international entities.
  • Review and reconcile fixed asset accounts.
  • Review fixed assets related to incremental developments and transactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

TRAVEL

Some out of area and overnight travel may be expected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of tax accounting experience in a CPA firm or in a corporate tax department is desired.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Real estate industry experience preferred.
