Editorial Director | Education | RVPR

Red Ventures is seeking an Editorial Director to lead the content and authority-building strategy for our Education vertical (RV EDU). This role will play a critical part in future-proofing EDU sites by driving credibility, research-backed editorial, and innovation at the intersection of content marketing, data science, and journalism.

We are looking for a seasoned editorial leader with the vision to establish RV EDU as an authority in the education space, while also ensuring our content drives real value for students, professionals, and lifelong learners navigating decisions about education and careers.

This role is to be based out of our San Juan, Puerto Rico office with a hybrid work model with 3 days in-office requirement. 

What You'll Do:

• Lead Editorial Strategy: Build and execute a content strategy that establishes RV EDU as a trusted authority in higher education, online learning, career advancement, and related fields.
• Bridge Data & Editorial: Collaborate with data science, survey, and research teams to design and publish original data-driven studies, rankings, and insights that gain media attention and improve site authority.
• Build & Manage Team: Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing editorial staff of writers, editors, and specialists in education coverage.
• Authority & Trust Building: Develop rigorous editorial standards and ensure our work reflects credibility, transparency, and thought leadership in the EDU space.
• Drive Innovation: Oversee new editorial formats, including rankings methodologies, research-based reports, interactive tools, and multimedia storytelling.
• Content Partnerships: Explore partnerships with academic institutions, policy think tanks, and media outlets to expand the reach and impact of our research.
• Performance & Growth: Define and track KPIs to measure quality, engagement, and brand authority, and use data insights to inform editorial decisions.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience: 6+ years in editorial leadership, preferably in education, research journalism, or related fields.
• Strategic Thinker: Proven ability to craft and execute editorial strategies that build brand authority and credibility.
• Data Fluency: Comfort working with data scientists, statisticians, and survey teams to translate complex findings into compelling, authoritative content.
• Authority Builder: Strong track record of producing content that establishes trust, garners media attention, and shapes industry conversations.
• Leadership Skills: Experience in building, motivating, and mentoring editorial teams.
• Innovation Mindset: Comfort with challenging the status quo and exploring new approaches to content and authority building.
• Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with product, SEO, design, and research stakeholders.
• Performance-focused: Sets high standards of performance for their teams and campaigns. Always has an eye towards ROI & outcomes.
• Managing in different environments: comfortable collaborating & managing both in-office and remote teams.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with higher education, online learning, rankings methodologies, or research-driven content is highly preferred.
