The ideal candidate will work closely with other artists and our client partners to support and augment asset workflows. As the main bridge between design and implementation, both at the studio and with our clients, the UI Technical Artist will be responsible for developing and maintaining solutions to complex visual scenarios, which includes ensuring timely and efficient communication, thinking creatively, and successfully delivering milestones.
What You'll Do:
Art & Design Integration: Ensure that UX flows and UI visuals work in alignment with good design practices and client expectations.
UI & Design Implementation: Translate gameplay and UX requirements into functional, in-engine UI systems, ensuring designs are visually consistent, performant, and player-friendly.
Technical Problem-Solving: Develop solutions for complex UI scenarios, leveraging your knowledge of shaders, engine workflows, and UI optimization techniques.
Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Work closely with designers, artists, engineers, and client partners to align creative vision with technical execution—unblocking obstacles and balancing artistic goals with production realities.
Pipeline Development: Build and maintain efficient UI and asset workflows, ensuring that tools, templates, and processes are optimized for quality and speed.
Iteration & Feedback: Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback quickly, and proactively identify opportunities for polish and improvement.
What We Value:
Design & Art Mastery: Deep understanding of visual principles, interaction design, information architecture, and accessibility best practices, combined with strong knowledge of UI art asset creation pipelines, style guides, and implementation workflows.
Drive for Excellence: A commitment to meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every visual element is crafted with precision to achieve a flawless, pixel-perfect aesthetic.
Player-Centric Mindset: Empathy for players’ needs and behaviours, with a passion for delivering seamless, intuitive, and visually engaging experiences.
Collaboration: Strong communication and facilitation skills, with a track record of building trust and working effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to translate complex systems into elegant, usable interfaces without compromising on aesthetics or performance.
Operational Resilience: The ability to navigate complex or less-than-ideal project environments, streamlining communication and optimising impact to set projects up for success.
What You’ll Bring:
3+ years of experience as a UI Tech Artist, UI Tech Designer, or similar role in game development.
Proven track record of shipping at least one game through to release; bonus points for console certification experience (Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5).
Strong proficiency of shaders as applied to UI (e.g. Unreal Material Blueprints, HLSL)
