The Physical Security Specialist will report to the Director, EHS, with a dotted line to the Information Technology Department. This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating security efforts across the organization, including managing relationships with vendors to ensure compliance and quality of security services. This role involves developing and implementing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring the safety of the company's assets, employees, and guests.
Specifically, this role will lead and supervise our physical security, traffic, and external security vendor coordination. In addition, this role includes ensuring the effective operation of Access Control Systems, CCTV (IP Camera) Systems, and working with the IT/OT Network Infrastructure team for cabling. This role will work closely with senior leaders, vendors, and maintenance teams to ensure high standards are met. This role will also lead the HMF Security Committee and Infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, update and maintain Physical Security policies and procedures across all areas, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Regularly review and update these policies to reflect current best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for company facilities and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
- Manage access control systems, including ID badges, card readers, biometrics, and visitor management systems.
- Coordinate with external vendors for the installation and maintenance of security technologies (e.g., CCTV, alarm systems, barriers).
- Monitor and analyze surveillance systems and incident reports to identify threats or breaches.
- Work closely with other department heads and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to security, traffic, and overall security for the four HMF locations. Serve as the primary point of contact for related issues.
- Oversee a team of security professionals, this may include external and internal resources.
- Lead and participate on cross-functional projects, ensuring timely completion within budget. Manage resource allocation, risk assessment, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure all protocols are in place for emergency response and regularly reviewed, ensuring collaboration with site incident commander during emergencies. Serve as a point of contact for physical security matters during emergencies and coordinate response efforts.
- Regularly evaluate security performance, providing constructive feedback. Prepare and present reports to senior management detailing progress, challenges, and plans.
- Conduct physical security audits and inspections of buildings, entry points, parking areas, and sensitive zones.
- Identify security and infrastructure deficiencies and report them to the Security Committee and Infrastructure Team.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency services, and internal departments to ensure coordinated security practices.
- Provide training and awareness programs for employees on physical security protocols.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Security Management, Criminal Justice).
- Proven experience in supervising multidisciplinary teams in physical security and traffic management.
- CPP, PSP, or similar security certifications preferred (e.g., ASIS certifications).
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and high ethical standards.
- Knowledge of current industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:
- Must have good vision and manual dexterity.
- Able to sit / stand for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
- The noise level in the office environment is typically moderate.
- Travel to local, off-site offices
