For our customer based in Malta - a European Institution, we are looking for an Application Developer to join our team in the area of

international protection - supporting Member States in applying the package of EU laws that governs asyluminternational protection, and reception conditions. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications for the Operational Support Centre, including the Operational Deployment System (ODS), the Call for Expression of Interest system (CEI), the Country Operations Platform (COP) and the Digital Platforms.

We need an IT professional who can work hybrid in Malta, and is able to work as a freelancer (B2B) without a need for visa/work permit sponsorship from our company.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications for the EUAA Operational Support Centre (C1)

  • Configuring, developing, and implementing ICT components, including source code, solution architecture, software components, design patterns, database schemas, and configuration of the respective backend systems

  • Developing unit tests to test front-end functionality and back-end functionality

  • Implementing the final design (i.e. "look-and-feel") of the User Interface (UI)

  • Conducting technical reviews ensuring that the application UI meets usability, functional, and client's UI guidelines and standards

  • Designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining integration with other systems as required

  • Collaborating with the ICT Team, Product Owners, and Business Stakeholders on the analysis and design of evolutionary changes, new features, and improvements

  • Reporting work on the JIRA ticketing tool and ensuring that all tickets are up to date on a daily basis

  • Providing technical support in the information systems' roadmap, including EUAA's Azure cloud environment, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft 365 presence

  • Creating and maintaining technical and system documentation

  • Monitoring and reporting on usage as well as performing security audits of the system, whilst providing advice accordingly

Technical skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, Python)

  • Experience with software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum)

  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS)

  • Familiarity with SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365

  • Understanding of database management systems (e.g. MySQL, SQL Server)

  • Experience with front-end development frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)

Requirements

Are you the perfect match?

  • University degree (BSc/MSc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in software development, with a focus on .NET technologies.

  • Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET, and Entity Framework, with experience in developing scalable and efficient applications.

  • Experience with PowerShell or similar scripting languages, as well as familiarity with SharePoint Online development.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Microsoft Graph API, Azure DevOps, and Azure App Services, with experience in implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms.

  • Familiarity with Web technologies, including JavaScript, XML, HTML/5, and CSS/3, as well as web design frameworks such as Bootstrap CSS.

  • Experience with one or more front-end JavaScript frameworks, such as Vue.js or React, with a focus on developing responsive and interactive user interfaces.

  • Ability to work independently with SQL Server database structures, including stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization, as well as troubleshooting database performance issues.

  • Familiarity with Azure Blob Storage or Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2, with experience in implementing data storage and retrieval mechanisms.

  • Experience in performing tasks related to website support, including debugging, testing, and deployment.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, with experience in developing custom applications and workflows.
