What You’ll Do:
IMG Studios is a premier production centre with state-of-the art studios, post-production and live operations facilities. It houses 4 HD broadcast television studios, 9 production galleries, 3 dubbing suites, 50 edit destinations, 3 radio studios, an award-winning 3D Graphics & Visual Effects team, and one of the largest data centres built specifically for digital media and broadcast in recent times.
We are looking for a dynamic Director of Projects to join our Studios business.
The role will provide leadership and management of the project team having responsibility for all projects, from planning, delivery, and handover, within IMG Studios. They will also have responsibility for CTA, including access, bay layouts and best working practices.
PLEASE NOTE:
- This is a permanent position based in our Stockley Park office.
- It is anticipated that this will be a 40-hour, 5-day week role, but this role may demand extended periods at work at certain times.
- Attending late night or weekend instances with unsociable hours for technology migration or other works/events relating to this area of responsibility.
- Possible working off-site if a project requires it.
Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:
- Leadership of the Project Team
- Team building and morale, career development, and succession planning of the Project Team
- Ensure satisfactory staff and freelance rostering and cover at all required times
- To manage all projects running through IMGS, defining the delivery in terms of using an internal or external team, the scope of work and programme, setting up meetings with the wider IMG engineering team for updates
- To manage CTA access, bay layouts and best working practises, keeping existing equipment and installation of new equipment, safe and secure
- To manage all third-party contribution and distribution infrastructure, working with Technical Services and third parties to ensure best practises for installation, testing and decommissioning
- Define best practises for change control and ensure all technical staff and freelance teams adhere to them
- Engage with the senior management team in to select best technical solutions, and setting appropriate timelines and budgets for all projects
- Help define the CapEx budget and to fully communicate with Finance to ensure clear visibility of project status, payment schedules and terms of any financial commitments
- Ensure clear handover notes, with staff development and training (if required), of all projects to the Core Engineering Team for ongoing support of completed projects
- Maintain and keep up to date all technical drawings, for current building and new project work
- Work with Production Services and Studios to advise on engineering rate card items, based on any new project work completed
- Maintain a full inventory of all technical support contracts including negotiation at time of purchase and renewal. This includes defining IMG Studios Support contract policy and type of equipment under current support
- To manage, help negotiate and define SLA’s offered to IMG in support of any technical services from suppliers
- You may also be required to carry out any other duties which are within the scope and purpose of the job
You Will Have The Following Strengths:
- Previous significant managerial experience of engineering or technical teams in a project and live broadcast environment
- Comprehensive and extensive knowledge of broadcast technology both current and in development, including I.P. based systems
- Demonstrated established relationships with clients at all levels
- Contract management and negotiation experience
- Project management experience desirable
- Strong understanding/knowledge of Broadcast and IT within an engineering capacity.
- Experience designing and implementing 2110 IP systems.
- Demonstrated established relationships with clients at all levels.
- Applicant must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following areas; Planning, Quality Focus, resolving problems, Managing Processes, and Commercial Awareness
- Applicant must be self-motivated, have strong timekeeping and organisational skills
- Attention to detail as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyse and effectively disseminate technical information clearly and in a concise manner.
- Provide creative solutions to technical challenges under pressure.
- Communicate effectively with clients and staff when addressing technical issues, giving up-dates and explaining solutions.
