Department: Supply Chain Management/Logistics
Reports To: Team Leader/Process Manager
Job Purpose:
To manage and optimize logistics and supply chain operations while leveraging German language proficiency to enhance communication with German-speaking clients and stakeholders. The role emphasizes process accuracy, customer service excellence, and forwarding knowledge as a value add to deliver seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operational Execution:
1. Support end-to-end logistics and forwarding processes, including booking, documentation, tracking, and issue resolution.
2. Ensure timely and accurate updates on shipments, invoices, and other key deliverables in alignment with customer and organizational requirements.
3. Leverage foundational forwarding knowledge to streamline workflows and optimize processes where needed.
• German Language Expertise:
1. Act as the primary liaison for German-speaking clients, stakeholders, and vendors.
2. Translate and interpret shipping documentation, emails, and other communications accurately to ensure smooth operations.
3. Resolve escalations and provide proactive solutions in German, ensuring clarity and customer satisfaction.
• Customer Collaboration:
1. Address client inquiries, manage expectations, and provide updates in both German and English.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with German-speaking customers to improve service delivery.
3. Provide personalized and culturally relevant solutions to enhance the customer experience.
• Process Optimization:
1. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through process enhancements and technology adoption.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in supply chain management and logistics.
3. Maintain compliance with international shipping regulations, aligning with organizational policies.
• Data and Reporting:
1. Analyze data to measure KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost savings, and customer satisfaction.
2. Generate reports in German and English as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
3. Leverage insights to recommend and implement targeted improvements in logistics operations.
Key Skills and Competencies:
• German Language Proficiency: Fluent in German (spoken and written); ability to handle business communication and documentation.
• SCM/Forwarding Knowledge (value add): Foundational understanding of supply chain management, freight forwarding, and international logistics processes (value add).
• Customer Service Orientation: Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in managing documentation, translations, and operational workflows.
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze data and drive process improvements.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 2–5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or customer service roles as German Expert
• Fluency in German and English is mandatory; additional languages are a plus.
• Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs processes is an mandate.
• Familiarity with supply chain and forwarding is mandate and should be able to operate shipments.
