ScottishPower’s Architecture team plays a pivotal role in delivering technology services across all UK business units. From solution architecture and technology evaluation to strategic alignment across the Iberdrola Group, this team is at the heart of shaping the future of IT within the organisation. As business processes increasingly rely on robust architectural foundations, technical leadership has never been more critical.

What you’ll be doing

As part of your responsibilities, you’ll lead architecture design, project delivery, and technical support, while also contributing to procurement activities and strategic planning. You’ll be accountable for a technology portfolio worth approximately £25M, supporting budgetary planning and ensuring solutions meet the organisation’s current and future needs.

This is a hands-on, technically demanding role that also requires strong leadership and commercial acumen. You’ll be expected to guide architectural delivery across ScottishPower’s business units, ensuring alignment with global standards and best practices. Your remit will include everything from cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), DevOps, and infrastructure, to integration, data analytics, and digital services. Clearly understands the tactical goals for own area and monitors, organises and delegates work on a day-to-day basis to drive successful delivery.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Solutions Architect to join our Glasgow-based team. Reporting directly to the UK Head of Architecture, you’ll lead a group of talented Solution Architects working across a diverse range of technology domains. Your influence will extend across key architectural decisions, group-wide forums, and strategic business engagements, helping to shape the direction and growth of the team and the broader technology roadmap.

You’ll be instrumental in managing relationships across local and global teams, coordinating the integration of new architecture services, and contributing to the evolution of operational and technical support models. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be key to your success.

We’re looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also passionate about people. You’ll dedicate time to the development of your team, recognising achievements and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Staying ahead of industry trends and working with external partners to enhance our capabilities will be a core part of your role.
