Job Summary:

The Director of Enterprise Hosting & Data Centre Services is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategy, operations, and management of the company’s global IT infrastructure. This individual will oversee a complex, hybrid environment comprising multiple physical central data centres and approximately 160 regional sites, technical centres and manufacturing facilities and a growing presence in cloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS). The role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and exceptional leadership to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of all enterprise-wide hosting and data centre services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a multi-year strategy for enterprise hosting, including data centre consolidation, cloud migration, and the adoption of modern infrastructure technologies (e.g., hyper-converged infrastructure, software-defined networking).
  • Global Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of all data centres and regional IT sites. This includes managing 24/7 mission-critical environments, ensuring high availability, and maintaining operational excellence across a geographically dispersed footprint (NA, EMEA, and APAC).
  • Budget and Financial Management: Own and manage the multi-million-euro budget for hosting and data centre services, including capital expenditures (CapEx) for new hardware and operational expenditures (OpEx) for licensing, maintenance, power, and cooling. Conduct regular financial reviews to identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Vendor and Contract Management: Lead the negotiation and management of key vendor relationships and contracts, including those with major providers like Broadcom/VMware, IBM, and other hosting, hardware, and colocation partners. Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met and service quality is consistently high.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing global team of data centre managers, engineers, and technicians. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Risk and Compliance: Establish and enforce global standards, policies, and procedures for data centre operations. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, TISAX etc.) and regional regulations.
  • Capacity and Resource Planning: Proactively monitor and forecast infrastructure needs, including compute, storage, power, and cooling, to support business growth. Develop and execute capacity expansion plans for both on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Develop, maintain, and regularly test comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans (BCP) to ensure the resilience of all critical systems and services.
  • Project Management: Drive key strategic projects, such as data centre migrations, new technology deployments, and infrastructure upgrades. Work with project management offices (PMOs) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a key liaison to executive leadership, business unit heads, and other IT departments (e.g., Security, Applications, Networking) to align infrastructure strategy with overall business objectives and provide transparent reporting on performance and status.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CDCDP, or cloud certifications like AWS/Azure/GCP) are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing data centre operations or enterprise hosting.
  • Proven experience managing a large-scale, global infrastructure footprint with a mix of central and distributed sites.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing multi-platform environments, including on-premise physical and virtualized (VMware, Hyper-V) infrastructure, as well as cloud-based solutions (IaaS, PaaS).
  • Extensive experience with budget management, vendor negotiations, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Strong background in developing and implementing IT strategy, governance frameworks, and operational best practices (e.g., ITIL).

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, cabling, and physical security.
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware, etc.).
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level storage, backup, and networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Proficiency in data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and monitoring systems.

Leadership and Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with a track record of managing and motivating diverse, geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including C-level executives.
