The Director, Enterprise Architecture Services is a leadership role responsible for the vision, strategy, and governance of TMX's enterprise architecture landscape. This individual will provide the overarching architectural direction and ensure alignment with TMX's strategic business objectives. The Director, Enterprise Architecture Services will lead a multi-disciplinary team to establish and enforce robust governance frameworks across architecture - application engineering, infrastructure and security and enterprise tools. In addition to architecture this person will be responsible for asset management and data governance. This role is critical in setting standards and adoption of TMX architectures globally.Role Summary:
The Director, Enterprise Architecture Services is a leadership role responsible for the vision, strategy, and governance of TMX's enterprise architecture landscape. In addition to architecture this person will be responsible for asset management and data governance. This role is critical in setting standards and adoption of TMX architectures globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture & Governance Leadership:
Establish and maintain a comprehensive Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework, defining global methodologies, standards, and principles across business, application, infrastructure, security data, integration, and tools and corporate solutions to ensure globally consistency and alignment with strategic goals.
Lead the Enterprise Architecture team in the execution and adoption of the EA framework and best practices across the organization.
Chair the Architecture Review Board, providing oversight and ensuring all technology solutions align with the established EA framework.
Establish and oversee a governance framework to identify, measure, and manage technology risks across the enterprise, viewing technical debt as a key component of the overall technology risk framework.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the architecture community, exploring emerging technologies and their potential application at TMX.
Working closely with key stakeholders to build standards and adoption globally.
Application Engineering Governance:
Establish and enforce a robust application engineering governance framework to ensure the quality, consistency, and lifecycle management of all software applications.
Oversee the development and implementation of standards for application design, development, testing, and deployment.
Collaborate with application development teams to promote the adoption of modern engineering practices and ensure adherence to architectural and security guidelines.
Lead the Agile Coaching and Support team to foster a culture of agility and continuous improvement across the technology organization.
Provide strategic direction for the adoption and maturation of Agile methodologies and practices.
Champion the development of high-performing, self-organizing teams and provide coaching to leaders and teams on Agile principles.
IT Asset Management Governance:
Lead the Asset Management team in the strategic governance of all IT hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle.
Develop and implement policies and processes for asset tracking, utilization, and disposal to optimize value, control costs, and mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements and oversee regular audits of IT assets.
Data Governance:
Lead the Data Governance team in the establishment and execution of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide data governance framework.
Champion the importance of data as a strategic asset, ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and privacy across all TMX systems.
Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
Leadership and Management:
Provide strong leadership and mentorship to a team of senior managers and managers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve strategic objectives.
Represent the Enterprise Architecture and Governance function in senior leadership forums, providing clear and concise communication on strategy, initiatives, and performance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across all business lines and subsidiaries to ensure alignment and partnership.
Collaborate closely with internal partners, including the Risk, Audit, Legal, and Information Security departments, to ensure that all governance frameworks and architectural standards align with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and the corporate risk posture.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, technology strategy, and governance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director or equivalent).
Proven experience in a global organization, preferably within the financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
Deep expertise in at least two of the following domains: Enterprise Architecture, Application Engineering, IT Asset Management, or Data Governance.
Proven experience developing and implementing frameworks for managing technology risks, including technical debt.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary technology teams, including the management of other leaders.
Strong understanding of modern architectural paradigms, including cloud-native architectures, microservices, and event-driven systems.
In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience in leading an Agile transformation.
Exceptional strategic thinking, with the ability to translate business needs into a clear and actionable technology vision.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to lead and deliver large-scale, complex technology initiatives.
Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)) are highly desirable.
