About This Opportunity

Focus your research efforts on developing an independent research program specialising in innovation, systems thinking and/or sustainability. In this role, you will collaborate with highly-regarded colleagues to develop and progress joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support, as well as contribute to the transfer of knowledge, technology and practices to research end users through translation, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Research: Establish an independent research program, contribute to the work of the larger team, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilise best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.

  • Teaching: Where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is undertaken, achieve teaching quality as indicated by approved surveys and outcomes for students, and improve or innovate where appropriate in response to feedback.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: When appropriate, supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.

  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

This is a part-time (50%), fixed-term position through to March 2026 at Academic Level B.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in the broader management discipline, preferably with a focus on innovation, systems thinking and/or sustainability.
  • A growing profile in research in the discipline area.
  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presentations at conferences.
  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check etc. 

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
