About the Role:
Reporting to Dr. John Krzeczkowski, the Research Coordinator will oversee research conducted within the Strong Starts Research Laboratory (www.strongstartsresearch.com) at Brock University. Our laboratory aims to understand the foundations of socioemotional development in infants and young children. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of a large CHIR funded pregnancy cohort study that aims to understand how markers of diet and exercise during pregnancy impact multiple measures of brain and behavioural health in children. The position will also involve coordinating smaller scale studies that investigate behavioural and physiological components of parent-infant interactions. This is primarily an in-person position.  

The Research Coordinator will: 

  • Lead and manage study recruitment and participant retention for studies that include 50 to over 250 participants 
  • Test participants (pregnant women, infants and young children) in the laboratory 
  • Ongoing coordination of study activities and day-to-day project management tasks, timelines, and deliverables
  • Develop and oversee data organization procedures for multiple studies
  • Collect, document, and securely store consent to participate
  • Schedule and coordinate study team meetings, and take meeting minutes
  • Manage project team communication
  • Help prepare and present presentations and reports in consultation with partners
  • Assist in research ethics board renewals and amendments
  • Help to develop processes and tools to support study staff
  • Update study documentation as appropriate 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A completed master’s degree or PhD in a related field (e.g., psychology, child health, child and youth studies, epidemiology, public health)
  • 3-5 years of experience leading/coordinating large quantitative cohort studies 
  • 3-5 years of experience working directly with infants in children in either research or clinical settings
  • A valid G class driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s abstract 
  • Professionalism, self motivation, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with study participants in a respectful, patient and compassionate manner 
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills 

Preferred or Asset Skills: 

  • Experience physiological data acquisition  
  • Knowledge of and experience with Qualtrics survey software
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS,Qualtrics)
  • Quantitative data management 

Salary and Total Rewards: 

  • Target hiring range: $50,050-$63,700

This is a temporary research position that includes:  

  • Health & Dental Benefits: Extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Vacation: Up to 2 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.

* The final salary is based on completed education, internal equity and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
