Job Description:
Berklee College of Music is seeking a tech-savvy, service-oriented Studio Operations and Support Consultant to support our world-class recording studios and production suites on the Boston campus. This position is key to Berklee’s mission of empowering artists to create, perform, and innovate at the highest level.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Studio Operations and Support Manager, the Studio Operations and Support Consultant ensures smooth, uninterrupted operation of Berklee’s 32 studios and suites—facilities that are in use up to 22 hours a day and serve thousands of students, faculty, visiting artists, residencies, and events. This role provides front-line and behind-the-scenes engineering and technical support to maintain high-quality audio and music production experiences.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, student-centered team working on cutting-edge projects, supporting educational and professional-level sessions, and helping students succeed in an environment built for creativity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide in-person, on-call, and remote tech support for classes, student sessions, and special events.
Troubleshoot studio systems and equipment, escalate recurring issues, and help implement solutions.
Monitor and maintain the status of gear, consoles, and DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton, etc.).
Supervise and train a team of 50 Studio Assistants, providing mentorship and oversight.
Support studio events, including setup, breakdown, and equipment operation.
Lead semesterly orientation sessions and contribute to testing, documentation, and upgrades.
Maintain detailed records on studio use, issue tracking, and policy compliance using FileMaker Pro and other systems.
Coordinate with departments and booking teams to ensure accurate scheduling and seamless sessions.
What You Bring:
A degree in Music Production and Engineering or a related music technology field.
At least 1–2 years of experience in a commercial or educational recording environment.
Expert knowledge of audio systems, consoles (Neve, SSL, API, Avid), DAWs, and music tech workflows.
Strong troubleshooting skills, customer service focus, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain excellent communication.
Leadership and training experience, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace.
Comfort with Mac and Windows OS, FileMaker Pro, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.

Hiring Range: $26.00 – $27.81/hr; dependent on relevant experience and education.
