The Director of Sales Training & Development is responsible for leading the design and execution of enterprise-wide sales learning and development programs focused on cultivating a culture of success, leadership growth, and service excellence across the national sales organization. This role champions initiatives that reduce ramp time, increase quota attainment, and shift sales behaviors from reactive to proactive. Collaborating closely with Field Leadership, the Director oversees the enablement of sales associates, managers, and directors while building systems that support scalable, high-impact learning experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consult with senior leaders to create blended learning experiences tailored for our new sales employees and upskill training for our existing sales teams.
- Build and evolve a National Account Manager & Sales Associates Academy curriculum aligned to Maxim’s company growth strategy.
- Partner with Sales Leadership to align onboarding curriculum and learning journeys with sales competencies and career development.
- Deliver high-impact experiences for sales new hire training, enhanced sales skills training, kickoffs, and national sales events.
- Develop and maintain a continuous learning framework that promotes long-term growth for all levels of the sales organization.
Coaching, Culture & Transformation
- Drive a coaching culture across the organization through 'Coach the Coach' initiatives and leadership coaching playbooks.
- Support RSMDs in developing action plans and identifying training needs reviews linked to accelerating strategic business goals.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Sales Operations leadership to identify local and national development needs and provide tailored micro-learning solutions.
Sales Readiness & Learning
- Design competency-based learning journeys that support just-in-time and on-the-job learning.
- Collaborate with Sales Ops and Marketing teams to measure training effectiveness through the company's reporting tools.
- Ensure the integrity of learning data to build field confidence and drive accountability in readiness performance.
- Stay current with sales learning and readiness platform(s) innovations and translate Maxim’s needs to leverage tools like Salesforce, PowerBI, and advanced analytics.
Operational Strategy & Execution
- Develop and align training programs with national sales initiatives and field execution plans.
- Define KPIs for program effectiveness and build reporting processes for leadership visibility.
- Serve as a key change agent, ensuring the successful rollout of new learning content and adoption across teams.
- Manage stakeholder priorities, secure resources, and resolve roadblocks to meet deployment timelines.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Business, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Sales Enablement, Learning & Development, or Talent Strategy.
- Extensive background with proven success in designing and delivering sales leadership programs for geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience with learning systems, LMS platforms, and familiarity with competency-based frameworks.
- Strong track record leading cross-functional projects with measurable business outcomes.
- Experience applying adult learning principles, needs assessments, and instructional design models.
Skills/Knowledge
- Exceptional facilitation, coaching, and leadership communication skills.
- Ability to interpret data and translate into training adjustments and business recommendations.
- Demonstrated success managing stakeholders and aligning learning initiatives with business priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Salesforce
- Proven ability to lead in fast-paced, matrixed environments with a focus on innovation and results.
Other:
- Must maintain a current driver’s license and Maxim Maxim-approved driving record.
- Travel up to 25% across North America is required. Professional attire and presence are expected when working with client-facing teams.
- Work may require extended hours or adjusted schedules based on business needs.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of an office job. Little to no physical effort required; sitting, standing, walking, typing, and answering phones are regular actions performed in this role. Occasional exposure to physical risk, work is normally performed in a typical interior office work environment. However, due to the frequent travel and visits to customer work sites, the employee maybe exposed to outside weather conditions and to exposed moving mechanical parts.
