About the Role
The Finance Officer will provide accounting and financial administrative support services to the Finance Manager. They will ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in compliance with company policies and procedures and analyse financial information to ensure compliance with reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Recording and processing of account payable transactions including verifying invoices for payment; GL coding; setting up electronic transfers; sending remittance advices.
- Reconciliations of the Ngwala bank accounts.
- Supplier account set up
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to resolve any payment issues
- Collate data and conduct reporting to required stakeholders.
- Recording and processing accounts receivable transactions
- Accessing online portals (eg Centrepay, FAC, Commbiz) and recording relevant transactions
- Maintenance of financial databases including for: Petty cash, parking permits, maintenance work
- Undertaking reconciliations and manage petty cash
- Maintain electronic and paper records efficiently and effectively & safely
- Address and resolve general AP/AR inquiries in a timely manner
- Perform other duties, which are incidental and peripheral to the main duties
- Provide support to the finance team as needed
Skills & Experience
- Formal qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping and/or relevant training and experience
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history and/or culture and commitment to the Aboriginal community
- Experience in community services, health, or not-for-profit settings.
- Excellent Excel and database entry skills;
- Experience using MYOB and Lightyear is highly regarded
- Advanced computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office suite
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
- Skills in working independently, generally within defined guidelines, and as a team member
- Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, purpose and core values of the organisation.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and perform well under pressure;
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Victorian driver's licence
- National Police Certificate (not older than 3 months)
- Victorian Employment Working with Children Check
