The Family and Consumer Sciences Student Worker (grader) must be willing to complete tasks as needed for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences faculty and staff in a timely manner. The student must be enrolled as a graduate student at Liberty University, while working in the office. Student must qualify for work study.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students in a welcoming and courteous manner, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Perform any tasks assigned by the professor or supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Must be proficient in APA to assist faculty in the grading of APA format.
  • Computer experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
  • May be able to work up to 18 hours per week.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian Model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
  • Maintain good academic standing and manage work life balance.
  • Ability to keep confidential information private.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

  • Must be current Liberty University graduate student.
  • Must be proficient in APA formatting.
  • Computer experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva
  • Strong interpersonal skills, well-organized, and desire to work with others.
  • Well-developed communication skills are essential.
  • Self-starter; works well without direct supervision.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer and scheduling skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Running errands to other departments on campus
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting.  It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate.  Working environment also includes facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
