The Lilly Bengaluru Business Insights & Analytics team was started in 2017 with the objective of using innovative data mining and analytics to support business decisions to Marketing and Access functions in the US and ex-US affiliates (focused on in-line and pre-launch brands). This team has rapidly grown and currently comprises of more than 100 staff members, with varied backgrounds and skills across data management, data sciences, analytical techniques, pharmaceutical commercial operations, and business insights. The team provides analytics outcomes for driving decision making across Lilly’s Marketing, Sales, Payer Access, Medical Affairs, and a range of other functions.
To support these teams in their decision-making, a data and analytics team has been set up simultaneously in Indianapolis (HQ) and Lilly Bengaluru. This team is responsible for setting up the data warehouses necessary to handle large volumes of digital streaming data, create meaningful analyses using that data, and deliver recommendations to leadership.
As part of the Lilly Bengaluru team, we have an exciting opportunity for the role of a Consultant: BI&A Medical Affairs CMH who will be an integral part of Medical Affairs Analytics within BI&A. The purpose of this role is to perform Medical Affairs Analytics execution and delivery, ensuring the analytics engagement model successfully supports the Medical Affairs organization in making data-driven decisions.
The position will leverage their deep understanding of various LillyUSA & Medical Affairs specific data sources to lead execution of critical analyses, and to communicate key outputs to decision makers. This analytics leader will be responsible for ensuring business decisions are backed by data driven insights and recommendations from analytics.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Project Execution: as individual contributor, primarily responsible for account level analytics to support business decisions
- Actively participating in various phases of the account-level/payer access analytics project including kick-off, methodology development, execution, insight generation and data visualizations
- Build deep expertise on necessary data sets and supports data enabled decision making using a range of data sources (patient level claims databases, EMR/EHR/Lab, publications, clinical trials etc) and internal Lilly data (EBD, Veeva, Customer 360 etc)
- Ensure high stakeholder satisfaction through consistent delivery of high quality, timely and insightful outputs throughout analytics value chain on various objectives related to the patient journey, unmet needs, omnichannel engagement, segmentation, targeting, and data support through data mining and warehousing
- Develop into a trusted advisor by actively participating in various phases of the project including kick-off, methodology development, execution, insight generation and data visualization and results presentation to various stakeholders
- Participating in meetings with stakeholders and communicating the final outputs and recommendations
- Develop foundational understanding of Medical Affairs strategy, critical objectives, transformation roadmap to ensure analytics recommendations and key workstreams align to the broader organizational strategy
- Develop/Conceptualize and prioritize analytic solutions that help answer Medical Affairs’ most critical questions and meet their needs with data driven insights
- Collaborate with LILLY Bengaluru, newly formed Data Engineering team and Advanced Analytics & Data Science teams on Medical Affairs analytics deliverables in seamless delivery model across different locations and teams
- Ensure business decisions are made with solid supporting evidence grounded in analytics that include actionable business insights and recommendations
- Build and understand the customer journey, pain points, and drivers of behavior as it relates to medical unmet need projects and omnichannel engagement
Project management: support the team leader as needed on the below tasks
- Creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality checklists that will enable excellent quality outputs.
- Project management for seamless project execution, prioritization, and high-quality delivery
- Facilitates shared learning forums to identify challenges and establish best practices across the team.
- Expansion of analytical capability of the team by taking on more complex projects and delivering value
- Ensure compliance with all privacy and contractual obligations related to the use of data
Experience Requirements
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in an analytical function (BI, data analytics, forecasting etc) supporting Pharma/Lifesciences Commercial ops internally or in consulting.
- Strong track record of leading teams to deliver and delivering complex projects
- Prior experience in therapy areas including Diabetes, Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience, or analytics related areas (targeting, segmentation, omnichannel analytics) is highly preferred
- Prior experience of working on a range of pharma/healthcare data sets highly preferred, including but not limited to syndicated insurance claims databases (IQVIA, Symphony, etc), EMR/EHR/Lab data (IBM MarketScan, Prognos etc), National/international patient registries, publications, clinical trials, open-payments data
- 3-5 years of analytics experience with demonstrated ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment in analytics, especially in pharma/other lifesciences
- Coursework/qualifications in analytics, statistics, RWE generation, quantitative health economics, patient outcomes will be a plus
Education
- Graduation/ Post-Graduation in Medical/ Pharma domain else Undergrad in quantitative field (Engg, Math/Stats, quant economics/econometrics etc) with relevant work experience mentioned below
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in SQL; fluency in one of R/Python
- Hands-on experience with at least 1 data viz tool like Tableau, PowerBI etc
- Advanced MS-office skills (MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)
Soft Skills
- Strong work ethic and personal motivation
- Good presentation skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work across time zones
- Ability to operate effectively in an international matrix environment
