We are seeking to add to our casual pool of Transport Drivers to facilitate the transportation of patients in a clinical setting. This role ensures our clients are attending their medical appointments. As a Transport Driver, you will be required to provide safe and timely transport services for patients and clients of SWAMS.

We operate out of the Greater Bunbury area, Mandurah, and have numerous clinics throughout the South West. This role will operate out of our Bunbury Clinic.
About the Role:
- Provide transportation to the Aboriginal people of SWAMS catchment areas to the Bunbury clinic or to their local Outreach clinic, as well as to and from other centres (such as Perth and Albany) to receive specialised medical care and treatment as required.
- Provide a high-quality service in association and liaison with other health professionals including Aboriginal Health Workers.
- Establish and maintain communication with professional practitioners and other health professionals as part of the Clinic.
- Seek and maintain support for Aboriginal families and their networks (e.g., those with illness and living alone or those recently bereaved).
- Undertake evaluation on client transports with the Transport Team Lead.
- Work within a team environment at SWAMS.
When not driving you will be undertaking other task as allocated by Directors, Managers or Coordinators when not required to transport clients. Including but not limited to:
- General Maintenance or upkeep to SWAMS vehicles, buildings, and surrounds
- Transport or delivery of items or equipment between SWAMS buildings or to other addresses as requested
- Distribution of SWAMS promotional material/ information as required
- Accompany Clinic staff to home visits if required
Essential Aspects:
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander under section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunities Act 1984.
- Flexibility in availability, to work within a roster with staggered start/ finish times between 5:00 am and 8:00pm – Monday to Friday.
- Ability and willingness to provide safe transport to all Aboriginal clients between a variety of local, Outreach and metropolitan locations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to achieve high level customer service to internal and external clients in high pressure situations.
- Ability to achieve transport requirements within scheduled timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people.
- Current WA C or CA Class driver’s license with a good driving history
Essential Criteria
For any roles noted as 50D roles proof of Aboriginality will be required before interviews will be booked or conducted. Below is a list of what is accepted as Proof of Aboriginality at SWAMS.
