TITLE:  Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Activities 

DEPARTMENT(S): Student Engagement & Activities 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time

FLSA STATUS:   Non-Exempt

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Associate Director of Student Engagement & Activities 

Job Purpose:

This position will serve as a key team member in the Division of Campus Life, specifically within the Office of Student Engagement and Activities. This team member will work to support programs and initiatives that build communities across the campus and within smaller populations. The Assistant Director will focus on building communities of belonging for students, advising student organizations, working and managing large programs and offerings. Finally, the Assistant Director is one of the primary coordinators of New Student Orientation.This is a live-on position.

Duties/Responsibilities

General Tasks And Duties:

  • Develop student programs and services in concert with the Division of Campus Life that address evolving needs of students.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop programs and offerings for all students, including late night and weekend programming, that provide opportunities for socialization, engagement, and community building. 
  • Manage elements of new student orientation in concert with the Dean of Campus Life and Director of Student Engagement and Activities, including content development, new student programs, and pre-orientation series and events. 
  • Support the College’s First Forty Programming initiatives. 
  • Develop belonging programs and outreach for students and student organizations, including student-led religious, affinity, and experience groups. 
  • Advise the Wagner Campus Activities Board. 
  • Advise student organizations, including class councils. 
  • Work collaboratively with campus partners to provide premiere student experience events, including the President’s Office, Division of Campus Life, Dining Services, and Campus Operations. 
  • Direct supervision of all student employees, including Peer Mentors and Student Workers.
  • Coordinate the College’s theme month programming series and develop awareness week/days events and services. 
  • Support major campus events, including Wagner Weekend, Midnight Breakfast, Commencement, and the Pub. 
  • Support college’s summer experiences, including summer conferences. 
  • Participate in the on-call duty rotation, including responding to campus emergencies involving students. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Commitment to student growth, student development, and putting students first. 
  • Willingness to work with flexibility and creativity. 
  • Detail-oriented. 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree 
  • Previous large scale event planning experience 
  • Experience with Greek Life 
  • Proficiency in (or willingness to learn) Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Modern Campus 

Compensation

  • $45,000 
  • Semi-furnished suite/apartment
  • Meal Plan
