The Laboratory Regulatory Specialist will develop, implement, revise, and monitor the laboratory compliance program, in accordance with the OIG's Compliance Program Guidance for Clinical Laboratories.
Compliance Review
- Develops the laboratory's compliance program. Determines the lab's compliance obligations by reviewing federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and all policies that apply to the lab. Reviews all lab policies and procedures and drafts any revisions necessary to address any current compliance exposure.
- Conducts a periodic review of the laws, rules, regulations, and policies issued by governmental authorities and/or private payers and assesses the lab's compliance exposure. Solicits employee input regarding the compliance program and makes revisions as needed.
- Keeps physicians informed of their compliance obligations. Drafts and issues an annual notice to all physicians eligible to order custom panels setting forth the lab's medical necessity requirements.
- Manages the self-reporting program for the laboratory. Develops and maintains programs which encourages employees to report any suspected violations of the lab's compliance policies.
Quality and Performance Improvement
- Develops, implements, and supervises continuing compliance education programs. Informs laboratory employees of their compliance responsibilities. Ensures the code of conduct and all policies and procedures are distributed to and understood by the employees.
- In conjunction with the Corporate Compliance Officer, has the authority and responsibility of investigating all suspected violations to the lab's compliance policies and procedures.
- Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job-relevant seminars and workshops, attendance at professional conferences, and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.

- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Experience: 3 years in a clinical lab setting
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Licensure: Current License in Louisiana as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist
