Imaging Specialist

Job Summary:

Preps, scans, and indexes medical records. Promptly picks up discharged medical records on all nursing units and signs for the charts that were picked up.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Checks record to ensure that all documents pertain to the correct patient and visit.
2. Preps charts for scanning by removing staples and pages not needed, ensures correct patient ID on forms and sorts chart according to procedure.
3. Performs scanning process by recording batch ID for every chart scanned, feeds chart through scanner, and places chart in proper cabinet.
4. Performs indexing process by ensuring correct patient identifiers and document type for each document before releasing chart to electronic medical records system.
5. Performs weekend and holiday procedures when scheduled to do so.
6. Pulls charts to be destroyed according to weekly rotation list.
7. Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Job Specifications:

• Education: High school graduate, Medical Terminology preferred.
• Experience: Prefer previous employment in Health Information Department.
