The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Hardware Design Engineer - Leased Labor (18 months) (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Conduct schematic and PCB layout designs based on ongoing project requirements
- Work closely with R&D research teams to identify hardware design requirements for power converters operating up to 3kV and high-power applications.
- Positively influence design and assembly activities and support R&D teams in bringing ideas closer to prototyping phase
- Work closely with external PCB/PCBA companies for prototyping and organize production and component sourcing
- Support maintain component libraries, laboratory test facilities and an overall R&D environment
- Help organize hardware verification tests, power tests and overall system tests and be involved in successful test execution with taking care of all necessary safety measures
- Regular presentations to the wider teams and documentation activities
Your areas of expertise
- Bachelor or Master in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or other related discipline
- In-depth knowledge of electronics and proven experience in using PCB design tools such as Altium Designer / Cadence Allegro / Zuken CR8000.
- The ability to identify, interpret and apply design rules where required
- Experience in hardware verification and testing activities
- High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, “can do” attitude, eager to learn new things and ready to think outside the box
- Fluent in written and spoken English, willingness to learn German, additional languages are a plus
- General knowledge of Power Electronic Components and electrical safety is a plus but not essential
