Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Transports supplies, specimens, films, food, records, equipment and sometimes people, to and from the hospital in a safe courteous manner using a hospital-provided vehicle.  The Laboratory courier is responsible for delivering reports and hospital mail to outreach customers and for laboratory specimen pickup.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Michigan chauffeurs licence.
• Bondable.
• Police-verified good driving record.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Six months to one year prior experience preferred.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position requires some lifting and/or pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
• Involves a wide array of physical activities, primarily walking, standing, balancing, sitting, squatting, reading, and driving.
• Exposure to varied weather conditions.
• Involves minimal exposure to infectious disease.
