Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Manu Tāiko - Associate Director, Business Partnering and Financial Control to join the Finance team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead integrated financial services across planning, reporting, treasury, and compliance.
- Deliver high-quality financial insight and modelling to support strategic initiatives.
- Maintain robust financial control frameworks and accounting policies.
- Build strong relationships across faculties, central services, subsidiaries, and external stakeholders.
- Promote agile portfolio allocation and seamless customer service.
This role is part of the leadership of a high-performing finance team and plays a key role in enabling the University’s Strategic Plan, ensuring financial health, and delivering robust, insightful analysis to support decision-making at all levels.

You will be a strategic, relationship-focused finance leader with a strong background in both business partnering and financial control. You will bring a collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence across a complex organisation.
Key requirements:
- Previous experience in a senior financial role within a university or tertiary institution.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- Proven leadership in financial planning, reporting, and compliance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Experience with financial systems and tools (e.g., Oracle).
