About the Area

The Media & Public Relations Unit is at the heart of building trust, connection and pride in UOW. Part of the Advancement and Communications Division, the team amplifies UOW’s reputation by connecting journalists with world-class experts, generating influential coverage, and showcasing the university’s contributions to society.  From producing content across UOW’s owned channels to hosting roundtables, shaping press events and developing original ideas to engage audiences, the team ensures UOW is seen, heard and trusted on issues that matter.

About the Role

With a new Vice-Chancellor, fresh vision, and bold strategy, there has never been a more exciting time to join UOW’s media team.

We’re looking for a stand-out communicator and natural connector—someone who thrives on networking, building relationships, and spotting opportunities to put UOW’s expertise and impact in the spotlight.

As a Media and Public Relations Specialist, you will:

  • Drive proactive media campaigns that amplify UOW’s leadership, innovation and societal impact.
  • Build thought leadership opportunities for our academics and executives across national and international platforms.
  • Shape and pitch compelling stories that resonate with journalists and diverse audiences.
  • Provide expert coaching and guidance to spokespeople, helping them shine in high-profile settings.
  • Contribute directly to UOW’s Vision 2035 and Strategic Plan 2030, ensuring a strong, unified voice across all media channels.
