We have an opening for a part time or full time cook at our Portland location. Milestone Recovery is a low barrier facility that allows clients to access services no matter the status of their insurance coverage. This allows our staff at Milestone Recovery to function in a more client-centered way. The voices of our staff are greatly valued in implementing changes, encouraging improvements, and promoting the overall care and wellbeing of the clients who Milestone Recovery serves.

Position Profile: Cooks are responsible for the day-to-day meal preparation and nutritional needs of the clients in the Detox, Residential and Shelter programs. The float position will work at all three of our locations in Portland (2) and Old Orchard Beach (1). 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for clients in our programs
• Keep kitchen, dining area and food storage clean, organized and in good condition
• Follow all state and federal food safety regulations
• Control and log temperatures for all equipment
• Stay within established budget for the food service
• Monitor and provide for the dietary needs of the clients
• Obtain necessary supplies for the kitchen
• Attend occasional program staff meetings and appropriate trainings
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits: This is a full-time benefits eligible position

Compensation: $21.00 per hour + applicable shift differentials ($2.50 per hour for weekends)

Schedule: 40 hours per week; schedule may shift from week to week when necessary. This position may have shifts scheduled at 10 Andover Rd., Portland, 65 India Street, Portland, and 28 Portland Avenue, Old Orchard Beach. 

Physical demands and work environment: Freedom of movement on a regular basis. Operating kitchen equipment in a normal full service kitchen environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. May spend extended periods walking, twisting, bending, standing and lifting.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent. A valid Maine state driver’s license is required. A minimum of 1 year of institutional cooking experience. SERVE Safe certified is a plus.
