Position Summary
The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Medicare Sales is responsible for leading, developing, and expanding the company’s Medicare sales channel. This role oversees regional Medicare sales teams and Medicare sales trainers, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, market growth objectives, and compliance requirements. As a senior leader within Agility, the AVP will drive agent recruitment, onboarding, and production through strategic market development, carrier partnerships, and training excellence. This role will foster a high-performance culture focused on agent success, carrier satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direct leadership and oversight to Regional Medicare Sales Managers and Medicare Sales Trainers.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability measures for sales teams and training staff.
- Conduct regular strategy and performance review meetings with regional leaders and trainers.
- Foster collaboration between sales and training teams to optimize agent productivity and retention.
Sales Strategy & Channel Growth
- Develop and implement strategies to expand the Medicare sales channel across assigned markets.
- Identify new growth opportunities, including geographic expansion and market penetration.
- Collaborate with marketing and recruiting teams to drive agent acquisition and engagement.
- Ensure the product portfolio is competitive and aligned with market demand.
Training & Development
- Oversee the Medicare training function to ensure agents receive timely and effective instruction on CMS compliance, carrier products, sales techniques, and technology tools.
- Work with trainers to create ongoing learning opportunities, including workshops, webinars, and in-field coaching.
- Ensure all annual certifications and carrier-specific trainings are completed on time.
Carrier & Partner Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with Medicare carriers to support contracting, product rollouts, and joint marketing initiatives.
- Ensure regional teams participate in key carrier events, trainings, and incentive programs.
- Work with carriers to address market needs and secure resources to support sales growth.
Performance Management & Reporting
- Track production metrics for agents, regions, and the overall Medicare channel.
- Provide detailed performance reporting and analysis to executive leadership.
- Identify performance gaps and implement targeted improvement plans.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all sales activities comply with CMS regulations and company policies.
- Partner with the compliance department to monitor agent behavior and address any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of Medicare sales experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role with multi-region oversight.
- Proven track record of building and managing high-performing Medicare sales teams and training programs.
- Strong relationships with Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D carriers.
- In-depth knowledge of CMS marketing and compliance regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally/nationally as needed.
Performance Indicators
- Growth in Medicare sales production year-over-year.
- Agent recruitment, activation, and retention rates.
- Regional team and trainer performance against assigned goals.
- Training completion rates and post-training sales performance.
- Compliance audit results and absence of regulatory violations.
