Job Description:

The UF College of Veterinary Medicine retains a centralized purchasing team to obtain research, education, hospital, and administrative requirements. As part of this team, a Purchasing Assistant is responsible for prompt and efficient order fulfillment within the context of excellent customer service.

A Purchasing Assistant must have and apply a variety of skills and aptitudes. An understanding of medical and scientific materials and equipment, maintenance contracts, service agreements, and procurement regulations as essential components. Teamwork, customer service, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication are integral to daily responsibilities.

Expected Salary:

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour

Preferred:

- Proven excellence and experience in procurement.
- Proven excellence in customer service.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and their applications.
- Knowledge of medical and scientific products and their applications.
- Knowledge of State, UF, and College regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong internal initiative, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Good public relations skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously, both written and verbally, and work with the public tactfully and courteously.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to use MS Office and fiscal-based applications.
