Post-doctoral Fellow in Economics and Public Policy
The Hong Kong Institute of Economics and Business Strategy at the HKU Business School invites applications for the position of Post-doctoral Fellow in Economics and Public Policy (Ref. No. 532966). Appointment will commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Possess a Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline, with solid training in economics and quantitative research methods.
- Demonstrate strong research capability and a track record of publications in relevant fields.
- Have proficiency in data processing and statistical analysis, with experience in programming languages/software such as MATLAB, Python, R, Stata, as well as GIS applications (e.g., QGIS).
- Have excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese, in writing and in oral presentations.
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a research team.
- (Preferred) Possess experience in research grant or funding applications at institutional, national, or international levels
Key duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will work under the supervision of Professor Heiwai Tang, Associate Vice President (Global) of the University of Hong Kong, Director of the Asia Global Institute and Associate Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Economics and Business Strategy on economic research projects in areas including (but not limited to):
- Restructuring global supply chains
- The digital economy and trade
- The evolving geoeconomics landscape
- Industrial policy in Asia and globally
The Post-doctoral Fellow will contribute to 2 to 3 concurrent research projects, producing policy-relevant research outputs, academic publications, and dissemination materials for both scholarly and policy audiences.
