Student Services Training Coordinator Description
South College is seeking applicants for the Student Services Training Coordinator role. The Training Coordinator supports the recruitment, onboarding, and training of Student Success Advisors (SSAs) and Student Success Mentors (SSMs). This role is responsible for coordinating initial phone screenings, supporting the hiring process, and facilitating foundational and ongoing training for new team members.
The key function of this position is to help ensure consistency in onboarding, reinforce policy and compliance standards, and foster staff development through engaging, learner-centered training sessions. This role works to ensure alignment with departmental training objectives and institutional policies.
Responsibilities
Training:
- Deliver new hire training sessions for Student Success Advisors/Mentors on key responsibilities such as welcome calls, registration advising, at-risk outreach, documentation, and follow-up expectations.
- Train new hires on systems and tools, including Zoom Phone, Anthology Student, Canvas, SharePoint, Power BI, and other South College platforms.
- Support the delivery of live Zoom trainings, pre-recorded modules, and in-person sessions as assigned.
- Contribute to the development and updating of training materials, checklists, and job aids in collaboration with institutional Student Services leadership.
- Monitor training engagement and performance, providing feedback and documentation to relevant supervisors.
- Assist with maintaining the Student Services Training SharePoint site and associated training resources.
Recruitment:
- Review incoming resumes and applications for Student Services positions and conduct initial phone screenings using a standardized rubric.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate with hiring managers and institutional Student Services leadership on qualified candidates.
- Administer Predictive Index assessments and submit interview feedback and recommendations.
- Maintain organized recruitment records and support timely communication throughout the hiring process.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Conduct call reviews and observations of new hires during and after training.
- Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to improve performance and reinforce policy compliance.
- Report training trends, knowledge gaps, and recurring issues to the institutional Student Services leadership.
Collaboration & Administrative Support:
- Coordinate closely with campus Directors of Student Services to support onboarding and training scheduling.
- Partner with academic departments and other stakeholders to understand evolving processes and incorporate them into training as directed.
- Assist with onboarding and mentoring new training team members as needed.
- Support special projects and initiatives assigned by institutional Student Services leadership.
Travel:
- Up to 50% as needed
Requirements
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in education, higher education, communications, or related field.
Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in academic advising, training, or student services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present information clearly and engage learners in virtual and in-person settings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, SharePoint, and learning management systems.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback to support continuous improvement.
