Description
Assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office by providing clerical and technical support in such areas as, new employee orientation, posting jobs, resume routing, hiring, payroll, compensation, and benefits. Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data through an automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares, inputs, transmits, and verifies biweekly, monthly payroll, and manual checks for faculty, staff, and students under direction of the Payroll Coordinator. Intent to learn the basic functions of payroll management
- Communicate and assist faculty, staff, and students with payroll paperwork, questions, and the payroll employee self-service website. Understanding HRIS software, its importance and how it is utilized to managed institutional needs
- Verifies I-9 documentation, enters information into E-Verify, and reports new hires to state of Indiana. The meaning of orientation and onboarding under the direction of the HR Manager
- Inputs background check information into HRIS system
- Assist in providing payroll information for the College audit, Workers Compensation audit, and Social Security reports
- Input, transmit, monitor, compile, and track payroll and benefit data such as, garnishments, TIAA, vacation time, insurance, HSA, and retirement deductions
- Responsible for routing resumes to the appropriate person, replying to job candidates, and posting all job openings as directed by the Human Resources Manager
- Assist with conducting new employee orientations
- Assist with updating of the staff and faculty handbook, compensation policy, other college policies, and Human Resource forms (Focus for the year will be the updating of the HR Handbook
- Create and compile internal management reports for office and distribution to other departments. Specifically working with HR Manager on benefits administration and reporting
- Retain knowledge of performance management and the implementation of performance management
- Maintain personnel files
- Assist the GA for Campus Belonging and Engagement with projects
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Sophomore or higher; class ranking. Experience in HR/ Business preferred
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Strong accounting skills and efficient use of Microsoft Office Programs
- Ability to learn and coordinate areas within HR to be defined as recruiting, payroll, training, and development, orientation, and onboarding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a diverse population of employees
- Work requires interaction with other departments, students and outside vendors, to exchange information where professional courtesy and the ability to establish rapport with others are required
- Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
