Product Integrity - Compliance Engineer

This role is intended to be on-site in Ottawa, ON.

How you will contribute as a Compliance Engineer at Ciena
 

The chosen candidate will be part of a product integrity team which has product-level global regulatory and commercial compliance responsibility on leading edge packet optical transport and switching products.
 

Your role will involve collaborating with product development teams to define regulatory/commercial test requirements, develop/manage compliance programs, advise on product compliance de-risk activities, and advise on test requirements for customer lab engagements. This includes design, documentation and marking requirements to satisfy the dependencies for regulatory/commercial conformance.

• Collaborate with product development teams to define regulatory and commercial test requirements.

• Develop and manage compliance programs to ensure product integrity and conformance.

• Scope and plan test programs for EMC, safety, and commercial compliance.

• Partner with test facilities during compliance testing to secure reports and certifications.

• Assist sales and field teams with customer conformity issues, bid proposals, and assessments.

• Support global account teams with homologation activities and regulatory approvals.
   

The Must Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in compliance testing and regulatory standards.

• Expertise in Telcordia specifications (e.g., Telcordia GR-63-CORE, Telcordia GR-1089-CORE, Telcordia GR-3108, Telcordia GR-487, ETSI EN 300 019-X-Y, ETSI EN 300 132-Y) and global EMC standards (CISPR 32 / EN 55032, CISPR 35 / EN55035, CISPR 24 / EN 55024, FCC Part 15, ICES-003, ETSI EN 300 386, IEC/EN 61000-X-Y ).

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
   

The Assets:

• Familiarity with ITE product safety standards ( IEC/UL/EN 60950-1, IEC/EN 60825-1, IEC/EN 60825-2, IEC/EN 62368-1) and communication protocols (OTN, Ethernet, SONET, Fiber Channel).

• Experience with external test facilities and board design for EMC.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $98,000 - $198,800.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
