The Department of Microbiology and Immunology has an opening for a Research Technician I in the Dibra Lab. The Dibra Lab investigates the mechanisms of immune evasion in immunotherapy-resistant cancers, focusing on how TP53 alterations in breast and liver tumors disrupt immune surveillance and promote tumor persistence. The candidate will conduct experiments in vivo and in vitro experiments, analyze experimental data, make graphics, maintain the mouse colonies and databases. In addition to general lab duties as assigned, the candidate will be expected to perform cell separation, use molecular and cellular techniques, work with murine models of cancer, genotyping, immunohistochemistry, western blots, and IHC. Mouse husbandry experience would be a plus. The candidate should be proficient in the use of computers in general and Microsoft Word and Excel, and be comfortable with newer technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct experiments including cell separation, experiments requiring molecular and cellular as well as sterile techniques, or flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, RNA and protein
Tissue culture
Conduct experiments involving cancer mouse models
Genotyping
Collate and analyze experimental data
Make graphics
Maintain databases
Maintain mouse colonies, breeding
prepare materials and equipment necessary for laboratory tests
Perform general lab duties as assigned,
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with mice
Use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Sterile technique/cell culture experience
Mouse handling
Competencies
Organized

Proficient in use of computers
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
