About the role:

The Health and Safety team is currently seeking a Health Specialist to join them on a Monday-Friday roster based at the Perth office. Reporting to the Manager Health & Safety, you will be responsible for the development, management and continuous improvement of the health management systems across the organisation.

 

This position is responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on complex health issues and workers compensation claims, as well as offering technical input to business leaders on matters affecting employee health and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements. The successful candidate will have significant input into, and drive the implementation of business strategies to manage psychosocial risks in the workplace.

 

This position will be responsible for a team of x2 Injury Management Advisors.


Duties:

  • Drive the business approach and strategy towards management of Workers Compensation Claims including oversight and guidance on the management of complex claims in line with business requirements
  • Implement, maintain and manage health & fitness for work systems that meet legislative requirements as well as business needs

  • Undertake a key stakeholder role in the development, implementation and ongoing review of the business strategy in managing exposure to psychosocial risks
  • Evaluate trends, provide analysis (including participation in injury investigation process) of all soft tissues injuries across the site(s), and develop actions plans to mitigate risk
  • Ensure appropriate health monitoring programs are in place as outlined in relevant legislation
  • Provide oversight and guidance on the management of salary continuance claims & drive the strategy aimed at improved claim performance

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, exercise Physiology or other relevant medical services field
  • Extensive experience in health and injury management, desirably in Mining or closely related industry
  • Detailed knowledge of Health, Compensation and Injury Management Acts, legislations and standards
  • Demonstrated exposure to complex workers compensation claim management
  • Experience conducting work aligned to the management of Psychosocial risks
