About the role

Techno is seeking a Civil Inspector to join a dynamic field team working on critical upgrades to a major passenger rail system in the Jersey City area. What you'll do
- Perform daily inspections of construction activities related to track and civil work, including installation of rail components, drainage systems, structural elements, and more.
- Monitor contractor performance for compliance with plans, specs, and safety protocols.
- Document progress through daily reports, photos, and field observations.
- Work closely with contractors, engineers, and project representatives to resolve issues on-site.
- Support quality assurance by verifying materials and workmanship.
- Stay proactive in identifying risks and flagging potential delays or safety concerns.
- Attend field coordination meetings and contribute valuable insight from the front lines.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of relevant field experience in civil construction or track-related inspection work.
- Strong knowledge of track systems and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with excellent written documentation and communication skills.
- Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, or non-standard hours as needed.
- OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 a plus.
- Experience working on live transit systems or in operational rail environments.
- Familiarity with rail safety practices and working within outage or flagging windows, a plus.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $40 - $75 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
