Commodity Buyer – Electrical & Mechanical Components

The Commodity Buyer – Electrical & Mechanical Components is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers for critical parts and assemblies that support Integra’s operations. This role requires expertise in commodity strategies for both electrical systems (e.g., cables, connectors, switchgear) and mechanical components (e.g., sheet metal, fabricated parts, fasteners, enclosures), along with strong supplier relationship management and market intelligence skills. The Commodity Buyer will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives, ensuring a high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable supply base.

Primary Responsibilities

  • ·        Develop and execute commodity strategies for electrical components including cables, connectors, circuit breakers, switchgear, wiring harnesses, and control systems.
  • ·        Develop and execute commodity strategies for mechanical components including machined parts, fabricated assemblies, metal enclosures, fasteners, and structural components.
  • ·        Identify, qualify, and manage a competitive supplier base, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • ·        Conduct supplier negotiations for pricing, terms, and long-term agreements.
  • ·        Lead supplier performance management through KPIs, scorecards, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
  • ·        Monitor and analyze commodity markets to identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • ·        Collaborate with engineering to source new components for product introductions and design changes, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • ·        Evaluate supplier capacity, technology, and financial stability to support scalability and mitigate supply chain risk.
  • ·        Ensure purchase orders are placed on time to support production schedules and customer requirements.
  • ·        Resolve supply issues, expedite orders when required, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • ·        Support production and quality teams with supplier issue resolution (e.g., NCRs, RCCA).
  • ·        Partner with engineering to ensure electrical and mechanical components meet technical and compliance requirements.
  • ·        Work with quality to maintain supplier certifications and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • ·        Coordinate with planning and operations to align sourcing decisions with SIOP and inventory strategies.
  • Professional Qualifications
  • ·        Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • ·        Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in commodity buying electrical and/or mechanical components.
  • ·        Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
  • ·       Familiarity with ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint experience preferred).
  • ·       Knowledge of electrical and mechanical manufacturing standards, specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • ·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • ·       Ability to travel domestically as needed (10–20%).
  • ·       Strategic thinker with ability to execute tactically.
  • ·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ·       Results-driven with strong business acumen.
