About Redwood Materials
Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
Essential Duties:
We are seeking a highly capable and intellectually curious Senior Counsel to support an Associate General Counsel across a broad and complex legal portfolio. This role spans Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Compliance, Logistics & Trade, Utilities/Regulatory, Litigation, Contracts, Real Estate, and Legislative Policy. You will also collaborate on strategic transactions, governance, and infrastructure matters.
This is not a narrowly defined legal role — it’s a launchpad for someone with a strong legal foundation, exceptional research and writing skills, and the drive to tackle unfamiliar challenges with confidence and precision. You’ll be expected to learn quickly, think critically, and contribute meaningfully across multiple domains.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Conduct legal and regulatory research across diverse subject areas including EHS, trade compliance, utilities, and real estate
- Draft and edit legal documents, policy statements, position papers, and internal communications
- Analyze legislative bills and assist in developing advocacy strategies and position statements
- Support contract review, negotiation preparation, and real estate transactions
- Assist with compliance program development, regulatory filings, and permit/license tracking
- Help manage corporate governance documentation and entity records
- Collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel on strategic transactions and special projects
- Prepare summaries, presentations, and reports for internal stakeholders
- Organize workflows, maintain documentation, and manage competing priorities with precision
Desired Qualifications:
- JD degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 8–15 years of legal experience, including exposure to regulatory, transactional, litigation or compliance matters
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and navigate unfamiliar legal and regulatory areas
- Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with legal and business teams
- Experience in environmental, infrastructure, or policy-related legal work is a plus
- Passion for sustainability, innovation, and making a meaningful impact
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
