Role Description:
We are looking for a Mechanical Estimator who will be tasked with creating and managing budgets and making improvements, reviewing plans, preparing take-offs and estimates, negotiating with various contractors and vendors, as well as building relationships with clients and site managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a standardized estimate cost reporting framework for the review and validation of Colocation Developers' base building construction costs.
- Prepare estimate evaluation reports based on developer's ROM, Schematic, or Construction pricing.
- Review and validate scope against predefined demarcation matrix, highlighting areas of deviation and cost impacts.
- Develop reports in line with Clients’ identified WBS categories.
- Provide review analysis of Developer's Data Center construction costs compared to market intelligence and parametric cost data.
- Review developer security costs compared to Clients' security cost data.
- Capture all assumptions and exclusions within the developer's cost estimate or proposed by AE, GC, and Client.
- Track design changes between estimate revisions and report on cost and schedule impacts.
- Factor in Value Engineering cost options for Client consideration.
- Coordinate with in-house commodity teams to leverage latest market intelligence for cost evaluations.
- Provide summaries of Site & Shell / Increment 0 / Increment 1-N construction phasing.
- Liaise with all Client stakeholders and partner teams including Energy Location Services (ELS), Central Estimating, and other stakeholders regarding estimating and program costs.
- Prepare and provide high-level ROM estimates for program planning, annual capex planning, and pipeline projects.
- Develop a cost modeling tool to assist with high-level estimates and improve benchmark capture.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years of cost management or estimating experience.
- Experience as a Cost Manager/Estimator with large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in CostX, Bluebeam, Excel, and Accubid software.
- Strong capabilities in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of relevant construction technologies and trends (Sustainability).
- Experience estimating Electrical in both MV and Low voltage (480v / 277v, 120 / 208).
- Familiarity with estimating Fire Alarm, Security, EPMS, Telecom, Fiber.
- Field experience preferred (at least a couple of years on-site).
- Data Center and Commercial experience required; Industrial experience (Food & Beverage, Laboratories, Waste Water Treatment Plants, Manufacturing, Agriculture) is a bonus.
- Conceptual and hard roll estimating skills.
- Ability to provide value engineering options.
- Proficient in market trends.
- Ability to establish relationships with stakeholders.
- Work alongside CSA and Mechanical estimators to provide one combined estimate for the client.
