Trilon Group’s executive team brings experience spanning engineering, consulting, investment banking, and private equity.Trilon Group is hiring an Analyst, Corporate Development to be an integral part of its investing efforts. Analysts will have responsibilities that span the entire M&A transaction process: deal origination, financial statement analysis, financial modeling and valuation, financial and operational due diligence, third-party advisor management (legal, accounting, tax, market consultants etc.), and investment thesis formation. The Analyst will typically function in a support role alongside the existing M&A team. This role is comparable to an analyst role at a private equity firm.
Analysts will have daily mentorship from the current M&A team and will report directly to Trilon’s Head of M&A. M&A Analysts are expected to develop rapidly, and successful professionals will be offered a significant amount of autonomy and upward mobility through a variety of career paths within Trilon. This position provides a rare opportunity for meaningful responsibility, growth and development for someone with one to two years of work experience.
Key Responsibilities
The role is primarily segmented into a few main buckets, including sourcing, due diligence, and execution. Further detail is below:Sourcing:
- Participating on introductory calls with potential partner firms
- Reviewing attendee lists for conferences and other sources to find potential targets
- Performing searches through various public sources to find potential targets
- Reviewing data from targets and performing various analyses to determine if the target is a fit for Trilon. Data includes:
- Financial
- Employee
- Client
- Projects
- Drafting internal memos for Trilon’s Investment Committee to present why certain opportunities are or are not a fit for Trilon
- Assisting senior deal team members through due diligence process
- Managing third-party services providers (e.g. legal, tax, accounting etc.)
- Assembling presentations for use during meetings with potential partner firms
- Providing ad hoc support on various projects from senior leadership
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Demonstrated history of academic success ideally with a degree in Finance, Economics, or Business
- 1-2 years of experience ideally within investment banking or private equity
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills required
- Strong and demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical skills required
- Sound strategic and critical thinking skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of finance and M&A transaction concepts
- Enthusiastic, personable, positive attitude, and high integrity
- Persistent, proactive, self-motivated with the ability to work under limited supervision
- Attention to detail and organized
- Ability to learn quickly and can grasp complicated financial and business concepts
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible in role
- Strong interest in private equity, M&A, business and finance
