About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Safety to lead safety strategy and execution across our in-home care workforce. This leader will design and oversee programs that protect the wellbeing of both our Care Professionals (CPs) and clients in the home environment. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, driving cross-functional collaboration across operations, clinical, people, legal, and product teams. A primary focus will be reducing workplace injuries, strengthening reporting and prevention systems, and managing the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases.
This role is remote (based anywhere in the U.S.) with approximately 10% travel required.
About the Team
You’ll join the Care Operations leadership team, the group responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to older adults nationwide. We operate our Care Platform in over 14 states, supporting more than 5,000 Care Professionals who provide essential in-home care every week. This role leads a small safety team and works closely with HR, legal, finance, operations, and product teams to ensure a culture of safety is embedded throughout our rapidly growing organization.
As a Director of Safety at Honor, you will:

Lead Safety Programs – Design and implement scalable workplace safety initiatives that proactively reduce risks and address common in-home hazards (environmental safety, mobility, infection control, client behavior, etc.).

Develop Training & Communication – Build safety orientation, ongoing training, and field communication campaigns for Care Professionals and field leaders.

Drive Workers’ Compensation Management – Oversee strategy and case management, including incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and provider relationships.

Ensure Compliance – Maintain alignment with OSHA and state regulations, support audits and inspections, and conduct regular safety assessments.

Leverage Data for Improvement – Define and track key safety metrics, share insights with senior leadership, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Partner Across Teams – Collaborate with product and technology to design tools that improve safety outcomes at scale.
We’re Looking for You to Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Nursing, or related field (Master’s preferred) or equivalent experience.

8+ years of safety leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a distributed or field-based workforce (e.g., home health, logistics, utilities).

Proven track record managing workers’ compensation programs end-to-end.

Deep knowledge of OSHA standards, injury prevention, and regulatory compliance.

Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively with both frontline staff and executives.

Experience leading cross-functional safety initiatives with product, clinical, and operations teams.

Familiarity with safety software, HRIS systems, and compliance tools.

Preferred: experience in home care/healthcare services, knowledge of caregiver-specific risks, and experience using digital tools or technology to enhance workforce safety.
Our range reflects the hiring range for this position. We use national average to determine pay as we are a remote first company. Individual pay is based on a number of factors including qualifications, skills, experience, education, and training.
