Job Description
What will you be doing?
The valuation team prepares a wide range of valuations for commercial, accounting and tax purposes, in both contentious and non-contentious circumstances. The team has a strong focus in business and share valuations but also prepare valuations of intangible assets (for IP structuring or post-acquisition) and incentive scheme awards (e.g., share options and management share plans).

As Valuations Associate Director, your responsibilities will include among others
- Overall responsibility for delivering a large number of valuation products and provide excellent client service at all times
- Strong technical expertise in certain valuation field (tax, accounting, commercial) or industries (FS, Consumer Product, TMT, etc..).
- Build and cultivate relationships with clients and potential clients of the group.
- Responsibility for encouraging and developing managers and other junior staff members.
- Contributing to training sessions of your department and/or office if relevant.
- Ensure your clients’ requirements are serviced by members of your team of appropriate seniority, experience and technical ability and with the capacity to do the work to the highest standard.
- Act for your clients in a professional manner that provides a role model for your team and department.
- Assist your Head of Department (HoD) or other partners/directors with proposals, marketing and business development activities for your field of expertise as agreed with your counsellor.
- Quality control, compliance and risk management
- Ensure compliance with the group’s internal procedures and best practice so as not to expose the group to unacceptable levels of risk.
- Maintain personal technical competence and keep developing technical skillsets to prepare to a future national technical role or industry role
- Report complaints and potential PI issues for your team/direct reports in line with the group’s complaints procedures.
- Proactively managing teams and understanding client's expectations.
- Supervising the performance and workload of the team (i.e. direct report).
- This role requires the individual to have demonstrated exposure to a wide variety of valuation work, clients and sectors. In addition to the diversity of projects, the individual must have led a large number of valuation assignments.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should
- Significant experience of valuations across all purposes (commercial, accounting and tax).
- Advanced knowledge of valuation methodologies and modelling and first-class valuation technical skills. History of providing these for different valuation purposes (e.g., accounting, tax and commercial purposes) and various contexts such as purchase price allocations, IP valuations, share options, derivatives and growth shares.
- Up-to-date working knowledge of key valuation methodologies and best practice modelling.
- Experience of managing a team of valuers working simultaneously on different projects.
- Customer focus –core to your role is to provide an excellent service to clients.
- Judgement – the firm relies on your judgement in the services supplied to clients. This has to be delivered as per the client’s needs, technically excellent, commercial and on time.
- Technical expertise – strong technical leadership and maintaining your technical competence is critical to ensuring clients receive an excellent service.
- Communication – you communicate both verbally and in writing in an engaging and purposeful manner.
Professional Qualifications and Education
- MBA or similar master degree in finance
- Educated to degree level or equivalent and completion or working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFA or Chartered Accountant ACA/CA/ACCA - or international equivalent).
