Job Summary:
The Transportation Division of AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager to join our Technology Solutions Department in the Austin, TX office. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to drive the successful delivery of innovative, high-profile transportation infrastructure projects through advanced digital engineering strategies. The Senior BIM Manager will serve as the key authority on BIM implementation, shaping project-wide digital processes and ensuring alignment with client goals, industry standards, and organizational best practices.
Job Description
As the Senior BIM Manager, you will lead the strategic planning, execution, and governance of BIM processes across complex transportation programs. You will set the vision for information modeling, integrate multi-dimensional data, and champion digital collaboration to optimize design, coordination, and delivery outcomes. This role requires exceptional leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive organizational adoption of innovative workflows and technologies. You will work closely with IT, project management, engineering leaders, and technology vendors to ensure the deployment and integration of fit-for-purpose software, hardware, and data workflows that enhance project delivery excellence. Job Functions include:
- Develop, implement, and enforce the Project BIM Execution Plan and associated workflows.
- Lead Project BIM implementation, ensuring it supports project requirements and client information management needs.
- Audit and review project data within the CDE to ensure consistency, compliance with standards, and continuous quality improvement.
- Oversee delivery of design models following the BIM Execution Plan.
- Support and guide Task Teams and discipline champions in utilizing technology and data solutions as defined in the BIM/CDE Execution Plan.
- Perform and manage clash detection using tools such as Navigator/iTwin and Navisworks.
- Lead coordination meetings and facilitate collaboration between architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
- Promote positive change management, encouraging the project team to embrace innovation.
- Work within defined scopes, programs, and budgets to ensure results are delivered on time and within cost targets.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure all team members understand data management requirements, CDE workflows, and BIM standards.
- Provide project-specific training for CAD standards, BIM tools, and workflows.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging BIM/CDE technologies, best practices, and industry standards.
- Implement and monitor compliance with agency-specific CDE, CAD, and BIM standards.
- Create and maintain software template files, manage file submissions, and perform quality checks for completeness and adherence to standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
Optional Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of Bentley, Autodesk, ESRI, and/or Trimble products, including ProjectWise, ACC, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, etc.
- Strong understanding of BIM/CDE standards, execution planning, and information management requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, Google, and AWS
- Proficient in databases including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other Database Technologies
- Ability to create, modify, and maintain custom scripts and routines for processes, automation and applications
- Other Software/Tools – Tableau, Power BI, MS Power Apps, Rstudio, Jupyter, Spyder, Ipython
