Job Description

The House of Commons Parliamentary Precinct Operations is currently looking to staff the Food Services Attendant position.

In this position, you will be responsible for serving customers at the various counters and service points of the cafeterias. Your duties will include ensuring that food is kept at the proper temperature, preparing hot beverages according to established standards, as well as cutting, coring, peeling, and cleaning vegetables, fruits, and other products in accordance with standardized guidelines. You will also prepare, upon request, a variety of cold and hot sandwiches, salads, and garnishes. You will ensure the provision of fast and efficient service while adhering to quality, hygiene, production, and customer service standards. Your demeanor must reflect courteous, professional service consistent with the image of the House of Commons, thereby guaranteeing a positive experience for all guests.

The purpose of this posting is to staff the position of Food Services Attendant on a seasonal, on-call, determinate and indeterminate basis. Hourly Rate $23.07 - $29.19.

**For seasonal, on-call basis, the hours of work can vary between 15 to 35 hours. The needs are determined according to the parliamentary sessions. Work periods are from mid-September to mid-December, late January to late June. Operational requirements are reduced during the summer months and between parliamentary sessions.

Qualifications

Education :

  • High school diploma OR acceptable combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.

Experience :

  • Experience in a similar position in a cafeteria or food service environment;
  • Experience with food preparation in a work environment;
  • Experience in customer service delivery and problem solving in a high-profile environment.

Assets :

  • Completion of a basic health and safety course and/or certification under the Food Safety Training or a Food Handler Certificate.
