NOTE: For this role, based on the level and job location, the salary range is $64,000 - $80,000.
The role
We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Fraud Investigator to join our Fraud Operations team. Our candidate will be responsible for all aspects of fraud investigations as it relates to lending and associated products.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct thorough investigations to confirm fraud determinations and file required reports (UARs) as appropriate
- Review referred potential Account Takeover cases, actioning accounts appropriately
- Review member identity and income documents
- Research and gather information, contacting third parties such as employers and financial institutions to clarify applicant statements as necessary
- Exercise exceptional communication skills to optimize each contact with customers, partners, and external vendors/banks
- Build and maintain thriving relationships between partners and vendors, cultivating a culture of collaboration, transparency, and mutual success
- Respond promptly, ensuring compliance with regulations with respect to timeframes
- Protect the institution from fraud-related losses
- Ensure compliance with departmental standards and processes
- Identify fraud trends, make recommendations for new strategies to prevent additional losses, and assume responsibility for special projects as assigned by Management
- Provides internal support to less complex fraud-related work avenues to enhance production and accommodate work volumes toward enhanced customer satisfaction
- Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence, and a fun work environment while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our fiscal controls
What you’ll need:
- 1-2+ years of relevant lending fraud review experience is required
- Knowledge of multiple pre and post-fund lending work processes: UTVI approvals, SLA follow ups, Waivers, Fraud Packet, Write - offs, Agency and Regulator Complaints and requests from business partners
- Knowledge of multiple lending products is preferred: Personal Loan, Student Loan Refi, In-School Loan, Personal Line of Credit, Mortgage and Credit Card
- Experience reviewing identity and income documentation
- Must be able to establish peer relationships and communicate effectively with cross-functional and external partners
- Strong, detailed focused writing skills
- Excellent time management, organizational and negotiation skills
- Ability to quickly adjust to a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Google Workspace: Google Sheets, Docs, Slides etc.
- Understanding of bank operations, industry trends & best practices, and federal and state banking regulations
- Strong knowledge of Standard Operational Procedures and process-oriented approach
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make independent sound judgemental decisions that are well supported by research
