Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior iOS Engineer to join our mobile team focused on delivering high-quality, high-performance experiences across our iOS and tvOS applications. This role is ideal for someone passionate about clean architecture, scalable mobile development, and delivering best-in-class user experiences. You’ll help drive the evolution of our mobile platforms, partnering closely with product, design, backend, video, and engineering enablement teams.
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be expected to lead by example in writing robust code, mentoring other developers, and contributing to architecture and design discussions that ensure our mobile apps are secure, maintainable, and user-centric.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain features for CNBC and other News Group iOS/tvOS applications
- Implement video playback capabilities using HLS/DASH and integrate with streaming infrastructure
- Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and responsiveness across devices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
- Write modular, testable code that adheres to coding standards and best practices
- Participate in architectural reviews, feature planning, and code reviews
- Monitor app analytics, performance, and crash reports to drive ongoing improvements
- Contribute to continuous improvement in release processes and CI/CD pipelines
- Stay up to date with latest iOS technologies and Apple ecosystem changes
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience developing iOS applications
- Strong proficiency in Swift and experience with UIKit, AVFoundation, and other iOS frameworks
- Experience with video streaming (HLS/DASH), offline playback, and DRM is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of MVC, MVVM, and Clean Architecture principles
- Familiarity with Xcode build systems, Instruments, and performance profiling tools
- Experience integrating GraphQL and RESTful APIs and managing data persistence
- Strong focus on app performance, crash reduction, and optimizing memory usage
- Deep understanding of the App Store submission process and lifecycle
- Working knowledge of tvOS development is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in media or video streaming applications
- Familiarity with mobile analytics, A/B testing, and experimentation tools
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for mobile (e.g., Bitrise, Fastlane, GitHub Actions)
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- AWS or cloud service integration experience is a plus
- iOS certification or related coursework is a plus
